RFHS was formed to bring together the Family History Community in Rotherham and the surrounding area and offers a forum and marketplace, which gives its members the opportunity to meet other like minded people in a friendly atmosphere conducive to the furtherment of their Geneological interests. The Society Membership Year is 1st April to 31st March.
New members can join the Rotherham Family History Society at any time during the year, and are welcome to do so. However, prospective new members please note that our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March and the full subscription fee is payable irrespective of the joining date. Fees for a new year are due, for all members, on 1st April.
No complimentary back issues of the RFHS journal will be provided. Our journals are published in March, June, September and December and new members will receive free copies of only those journals published after their joining date. Back issues of the journal can of course be purchased from the society, either in paper form, if available, or as a digital copy via email.
As a Registered Charity the Society is able to claim tax back at the standard rate of Income Tax, on the Donations you make to the Society (including Membership Subscriptions). For us to do this you must make and sign a declaration giving your permission for us to make the claim from HM Revenue and Customs. However, you must be a UK taxpayer to be able to gift aid your donations. You must be paying at least the equivalent amount of either Income or Capital Gains Tax.
This probably all sounds very complicated, but the only thing you have to do is to establish that you pay one or the other of the taxes mentioned above and then sign the Gift Aid Donation Declaration on the Membership Form – and thats all there is to it!
DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998
